Please find below some useful info on how to become a limo chauffeur…
In order to obtain a limousine driver’s licence, your first step is to obtain your Class 4 (or greater) driver’s licence from any registry in Alberta.
The next step is doing the Defensive Driving course. AMA offers this course for $99 on their website if registering online.
The last step is to see the City of Calgary Taxi & Livery Commission. 2116 27 Ave NE Calgary 403-648-6300
To obtain your limousine licence, you must first pass a written exam. The cost of the exam is $54. If you fail (less than 80%), they give you 2 more chances to write at $24 per try. The study guide is available at the Taxi & Livery Commission offices.
Once you have passed the written test, they then do a police clearance, $41 and your badge is $135 annually on your birthday.
The above pricing for the Taxi & Livery Commission is for 2016.
If you already have your taxi licence, the only cost to you is the $135 for your limousine badge to have both licences. Both will renew annually & only one police check is required annually.
Once you have completed the previous three steps, it is now time to put your new licence to work!
AMPM offers $35/hr whilst you have passengers. The limousine industry is a part time industry and is all about fun. Our typical busy times are Friday evenings and all day Saturdays with some weekday bookings.
Our application process is simple. Follow the previously outlined steps & get your limousine licence and then come see us!
